Melissa grew up just outside Raleigh, going to the North Carolina beaches every summer with her family. She continues to go almost yearly to the NC coast with her family, now seeking out views and lighthouses to paint. She lives mostly in New Orleans and on the Mississippi Gulf coast. She received her MFA in Painting from Tulane University. Several of her landscape paintings can be found in local museum collections and art books.
